The Porthcawl Elvis Festival takes place annually in every third weekend in September in the United Kingdom but it is subjected to change as well. This year the festival is gonna take place from September 23rd to 25th.

Porthcawl Elvis Festival History:
Elvis Aaron Presley was born on January 8th, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi. Presley’s parents didn’t have a lot of money as he was growing up. His dad, Vernon Presley, worked at various odd jobs for making a living and was a farmer. His mother, Gladys was raised Christian and had strong faith. She was very protective of Elvis growing up, and both did their very best to provide everything for their only son. Elvis was actually born as a twin however his elder brother was stillborn. The family attended an Assembly of God church, where he found his initial musical inspiration.
In 1948, the Presleys moved to Memphis, Tennessee. And there, Elvis attended Humes High School, where he got his first taste of fame when he won a musical talent show. He graduated a few years after that in 1953, then started working a few odd jobs along with chasing his musical career. In 1954 he teamed up with the legendary Sun Records label in Memphis, where Sam Phillips, the record producer, decided to take him for his production.
However his initial years of his music career wasn't that successful and he had to face various major disappointments. Eventually, a band was put together with him on the acoustic guitar, and soon they were touring and recording. He already had quite a big personality and style, but it wasn’t until after the song ‘That’s All Right Mama’ that his career shot up and he came a rock sensation of the time.
The trio played publicly for the first time on July 17 at the Bon Air club. Presley still sporting his child-size guitar. At the end of the month, they appeared at the Overton Park Shell, with Slim Whitman headlining. Here Elvis pioneered 'Rubber Legs', his signature style dance movement that he is best known for.
Elvis had a vast range of musical influences, from pop to country music, to R&B, and gospel from all those days of listening to the choir in church. Hence it was no surprise that he became the teen idol of his decade.
