National Family Day History:

Families have been an integral part of our society probably from the start of the human civilization only or even during prehistoric times as cavemen also had thoughts of protecting their loved or known ones from any attack so the care and love for family came naturally only.

Throughout history, the definition of family has evolved to include nontraditional families, extended clans, and even tightly-knit friend groups can be considered as family. For those without close ties to their blood relatives, “chosen family” provides much-needed love and support. But one thing is sure that families have played an important role in shaping our human society and still it is playing a crucial role today.

The scientific study of the family unit began in the late 19th century and was crystallized as a subfield of sociology in the 1960s. Since then, social scientists have paid special attention to the family’s role in shaping individual behavior and how their belonging to different places and cultures affect family structures around the world.

Today most of the families in the world are nuclear families which means they consists of parents and children only and this is most prevalent in western societies today. However in many cultures across the world taking care of the elders is still considered as a responsibility of a family and that's why many lives in joint families in these societies.

National Family Day Significance:

The family unit is an indispensable part of human society. At its core, the family is composed of biological relatives like parents, siblings, grandparents, and cousins, as well as spouses, children, and in-laws. The social relationships, expectations, and dynamics between these relatives vary by time and place. So yeah as an extended family of relatives, a family can be very large but the  with the people who are biological relatives to each other are considered as the core family members in that also the parents and children are considered the most important family members who take care of each other and spends most of their lives together.

Family is a very broad term and it can be also used for those people who are not related to each other in anyway but still are very close as friends so for them the term of family can be used. Many people on this world are also born as orphans so for them there close friends are only family to them. Family are also extended when two of the people marries each other and thus they all together forms one big family.

According to psychologists, family ties are critical for healthy development. Research shows that the quality of familial relationships has significant effects on well-being of a person. Strong family ties support us under stress, help us process trauma, and boost our self-esteem for doing many things.

So truly a family is very important for an individual. It naturally builds responsibility in your character from the start only as you love and care for your family members. When you are young your parents takes care of you in everything from teaching you how to do things while taking care of you and providing you education so that one day you can be independent of them. Hence the contribution that a family plays in human life must never be undermined and that's why we celebrates National Family Day in honor of our families.
