World Engineers Day 2022: History, Significance and Observance

The World Engineers Day is celebrated annually on 15th September and this day is dedicated to all of the engineers around the world

The World Engineers Day is celebrated annually on 15th September and it is day to all of the engineers around the world as it recognizes their contributions made to the society.

Today engineering is a vast profession which includes everything from civil engineering, mechanical engineering, software engineering(IT) to aerospace engineering and many more.

However among all the engineering, civil engineering is considered as the mother of all engineering as it was the first form of engineering which has existed in our world and played a crucial role in evolving the human society.

World Engineers Day History:

The concept of engineering has existed since ancient times as humans created fundamental inventions such as the pulley, lever, and wheel. Each of these inventions is consistent with the modern definition of engineering, exploiting basic mechanical principles to develop useful tools and objects.

Then in the middle ages too engineering played a huge role in upliftment of the human society like when the cotton gin was invented in India by the 6th century AD and the spinning wheel was invented in the Islamic world by the early 11th century and both of these led to rise of the cotton industry in the world. And we all know that how important role cotton industry played during the industrial revolution.

The first fully-functioning steam engine was built in 1712 by blacksmith Thomas Newcomen. The development of this machine gave rise to the industrial revolution for the coming decades. With the rise of engineering as a profession in the 18th century, the term became more narrowly applied to fields in which mathematics and science were applied.  Similarly, in addition to military and civil engineering, the fields then known as the mechanic arts were incorporated into engineering.

In the modern era the inventions of Thomas Savery and the Scottish engineer James Watt gave rise to modern Mechanical Engineering. The development of specialized machines and their maintenance tools during the industrial revolution led to the rapid growth of Mechanical Engineering both in its birthplace of Britain and beyond.

The discipline of Electrical Engineering was shaped by the experiments of Alessandro Volta in the 19th century, the experiments of Michael Faraday, Georg Ohm and others and the invention of the electric motor in 1872. Similarly other forms of engineering were also added later.

World Engineers Day Significance:

Today Engineering is considered one of the most sought after profession in the world. And we can realize that from our childhood only were mostly suggested to either take engineering or medical as a profession. And there is a reason for that also as once selected engineering is seen as a very secure profession.

Another factor is also of money as making a career in engineering is seen very profitable because of high returns. As a handsome amount of salary is paid in this profession and by the passage of time as your experience it increases also. And once you reach the top positions then you could make a lot of money from it.

But for now let us all ignore the job and money factor amd see engineering as a profession. It is a profession full of passion and love for machines and technology. It helps in increasing your knowledge about the world that how it functions and makes you much more knowledgeable regarding your daily use things.

Engineering also gives you a chance to provide your services to the people and serve them with satisfaction. It is not boring at all if you are really interested and passionate about engineering. By performing your duties of engineering you play a huge role in providing services to all of the people like if you are civil engineer then by building architectural wonders and projects you gets satisfaction by passing it for the use by the people who are gonna use it for several years to come, if you are an software engineer then by making softwares you are offering services to all the consumers who are gonna use your software.

So it is a day which offers salutation to all of the engineers around the world who makes our world even more convenient by offering their services and doing huge contribution for the evolution of humanity and so respect must be paid to them.

World Engineers Day Activities:

In celebrating World Engineers Day, appreciate any engineer around you. Let them know how important they are, and that you value their contribution to the growth of society as they hardly get any appreciation in our very busy world so they will definitely like it.

There are many documentaries and tv shows which are available today which tells us about the work behind engineering amd gives us backstory behind architectural marvels that we see today that how hard it was to build it. So definitely try to watch some engineering documentaries or shows on this day.

We all have a little engineering spirit in us isn't that right? So try to test your engineering skills on this day by building something  and no we are not asking you to build a real building or architecture but here we are talking about building blocks toys and models like Legos or if you don't have legos then also you can build a sand or mud castle or anything with clay so do they try your hands at building stuff.
