World Beard Day is celebrated annually on every first Saturday of September and this it falls on 3rd September this year. 

It is said that times are changing but the beard are the ones which have never gone out of fashion and it existed since the caveman period. Even today beards are very popular however now short beards are mostly preferable in the world compared to long ones that our ancestors used to have.

World Beard Day History: 

Beard has been a part of mankind since its beginning. As during prehistoric period cavemen used to have long beards and hairy body and this was useful for them too against fighting the harsh climatic conditions. 

It is believed that sometime around 4000 B.C., shaving was introduced, and beards, moustaches and other hairs started being trimmed or chopped off from the human body. An early prototype of shaving cream was prepared by the Sumerians in Mesopotamia. 

Then from going to fight wars and exerting their domination over the others the beards became prominent for symbolizing manliness, bravery and prestige. And throughout history people across all the cultures of humankinds were proud of their beards as they regarded it as a status symbol for men. 

The origin of World Beard Day is actually unknown but we know that it is a modern event but some historians state that a day to honor beards for the first time was celebrated by the Danish Vikings as far back as 800 A.D.

In the past we can also found that there were many incidents when men were humiliated, shamed or embarrassed for not having a beard like in Sweden once men without beards were banished from town to spend a night outside in the forest. In southern Spain also, there has been a tradition of having a bearded man and a beardless boy engage in a boxing match

Today beard is not mandatory as it used to be in some cultures around the world in pas but still many men across the world prefers to have a beard. And in many cultures around the world it is still considered as a matter of pride to have a beard.

And it also point to be noted that beard is also considered as a symbol of manliness as you know that only men can have beard hence it represents manhood and that's why men takes it very seriously as even if they don't like keeping beards if beards doesn't grow naturally on them they take this in a negative way and mostly becomes tense or sad over it.

There is scientific reasons too which shows advantage of keeping beards as if you are allergic to pollen or dust, then you have one other reason to grow a beard. It can protect you from pollen and dust allergies. So it can be used as a shield to protect you from dust and allergies and this is no joke but all proven fact. 

This is the motive of this World Beard Day as well to encourage all the men around the world to keep a beard on this day and definitely avoid shaving your beards on this day as it is considered as disrespectful.
