National White Chocolate Day History:

Chocolate has been around a very long time, it’s consumption as a beverage can be traced back to 1900 BCE by the Mesoamericans. Infact once it was considered so important that it was even used as a currency during the time of Aztec Empire. It wasn’t until Christopher Columbus visited the New World for the 4th time in 1502 that chocolate was brought back to the UK and then from there it reached all over the world and today it is one of the most used food commodity in the world.

Until the 1930s the world only knew about the rich mahogany chocolate but this all changed when Nestle a swiss company invented Milkybar in 1930. White chocolate was the result of separating the dark solids from the rich fat of the bean known as cocoa butter, a natural part of the manufacturing process, but instead of recombining them, the cocoa butter was left to shine on its own.

Then in 1937, the white chocolate Galak was launched in Europe by Nestle. Soon other companies also developed their own formulas for creating white chocolates such as that developed by Kuno Baedeker for the Merckens Chocolate Company in 1945.

From about 1948 until the 1990s, Nestle produced a white chocolate bar with almond pieces, Alpine White, for markets in the United States and Canada. Later Hershey began mass production of white Hershey's Kisses in the 1990s, a product that diversified during the early 21st century to include a chocolate white-dark swirl Kiss called the Hug.

National White Chocolate Day Significance:

White chocolate does not contain cocoa solids, the primary non-fat constituent of conventional chocolate liquor which is a chocolate in its raw, unsweetened form. During manufacturing, the dark-colored solids of the cocoa bean are separated from its fatty content, as with milk chocolate and dark chocolate, but, unlike with other forms of chocolate, no cocoa mass is added back to it and as a result cocoa butter is the only cocoa ingredient which remains in white chocolate.

At one point when the white chocolates were introduced in the world it was the most popular form of chocolate as it was also the earliest one to got introduced before milk and dark chocolates. However later its popularity started to get decline because of rise in popularity of milk and dark chocolates.

But despite this white chocolates are still very much consumed in the country not in that huge scale like the other ones. But irrespective of its popularity today the day aims to celebrate the legacy created by it as it played a very important role I'm the evolution of chocolates and chocolate making technology in the world. And thus played a huge role in pushing the chocolate industry forward which must not be forgetted.

Hence this day also aims to encourage people towards the consumption of white chocolates as in recent times the market of white chocolates isn't growing that well and that's why it is very important that we keep its legacy alive for the time to come. So this day urges people to have a treat of white chocolates to celebrate its rich taste and legacy.
