The origins of fairies dates back to 13th century Emgland where they were described for the first time by Gervase of Tilbary. The tradition of a child receiving a gift from a fairy in return of a lost teeth can be traced back to medieval Europe. 

However in the modern times for the first time tooth fairies appeared in the 18th century French fairytale called "La Bonne Petite Souris." In the American history the first reference regarding the tooth fairies came in the "Chicago Daily Tribune" Household hints column.
