National Tailgating Day History: 

If we take a look into our history it is speculated that the first tailgate party of the world was started by the Romans as they used to do this practice before and after of the chariot races so between the intervals the audiences and participants used to enjoy a break in leisure by eating meal or doing other refreshing activities. 

However in regards to he modern practice of tailgating it was started in only 1861 during the Battle of Bull Run when the supporters of the US Union Army showed up with foods and drinks to encourage soldiers and also to show solidarity and boost their moral. 

And after the introduction of American football the practice of tailgating became immensely popular in the country as people started to do tailgating between the breaks, starting and ending of the game. And thus it became associated closely with American sports events. 

National Tailgating Day was founded by Luke Lorick in 2016. He is the current president of the Tailgating Challenge as well and he founded this holiday out of his love for tailgate parties.

Tailgating is also not anything of the past as some surveys reports that a majority of US population still tailgates especially the American football fans.
