It is time to celebrate our delicious and sweet chocolates on this International Chocolate Day which falls annually on 13th September

The International Chocolate Day is celebrated annually on 13th September and as you can you guess this day honors the taste and richness of chocolates and also celebrates its importance in our lives. 

After making its debut about 4,000 years ago, chocolate can now be found everywhere and they are available in mainly three varieties dark, white and milk chocolates and everyone must like some type of chocolate. 

Even if you are rare and don't like chocolates you can still not deny the importance that chocolates have played and might be you not consume chocolate directly but still chocolates affect you in some way like coffee which you drinks also comes from cocoa and many other food products contains some amount of chocolates.

International Chocolate Day History:  

The history of chocolate can be traced back to 450 B.C., originating from Mesoamerica, present-day Mexico. It is also believed that Olmecs were the first one to refine cocoa beans into chocolates about 4,000 years ago which they initially used as medicines and part of rituals. Later Mayan culture started using chocolates as beverages. 

Then it is believed that, chocolate found its way to Spain in the 16th century through Hernan Cortes, a Spanish explorer who discovered cocoa during his journey to the Americas. From then on, chocolate soon spread to other parts of Europe and then later to the whole world. 

Then in 1828,  the chocolate press was invented by a Dutch chemist called van Houten which simplified the processing of chocolates from cocoa beans and this enabled the mass production of chocolates and this was revolutionary and very important in making chocolate easily accessible and available all over the world because of which only chocolate is one of the most consumed food item in our world. 

Later to honor this delicious chocolate  and to celebrate its importance in our lives, the U.S. National Confectioners Association listed 13 September every year as International Chocolate Day, coinciding with the birth date of Milton S. Hershey (September 13, 1857) founder of the Hershey's company which is the largest producer of chocolates in the United States in order to honor him and celebrate his legacy.

In our modern world, chocolate is still being enjoyed greatly all over the world, in a wide variety of exciting flavors and formulas. Cocoa is now grown and exported from over fifty countries, at over 4.7 million tons a year and the chocolate industry has become so big that it is a great source of employment for millions of people around the world. 

Everyone loves chocolates but the popularity of chocolates is unmatched to any other food item when it comes to the kids. As it is almost synonymous with children today and is loved by almost all children in the world. Other than that chocolate is very versatile as well as you can add chocolate as a flavour to many other food items and it doesn't disturb any taste but makes it even more tastier. 

Chocolates are loved by all people but it has a strong grip in cuisine in the Western countries and that's why western countries especially Europeans are the largest consumers of chocolate today. Chocolate has a key role in many cuisines of these countries and that's why it is taken with very high regard. 

Today there are primarily three main types of chocolates in our world which are dark chocolates, milk chocolates and white chocolates. Among them milk chocolate is currently the most popular one, however dark chocolates are gaining a lot in popularity in recent times.
