Emergency Services Day History:

Emergency services had a long history in the United Kingdom but they only got their day recently in 2017 only. The number 999 was used in the U.K. to contact emergency services for the first time in 1937. And since its introduction it is providing its services with great efficiency and that's why definitely deserved a day.

Despite the huge contribution done by the workers in the emergency services it was seen from a long that people often neglect them and failed to honour and respect them which definitely needed as it was demanded by many emergency services workers to have this day from a long time.

Emergency Services Day was founded in 2016 by the National Emergency Services Memorial (NESM). It was pushed by Tom Scholes-Fogg who wanted to set aside a special day to honor the country’s 999 servicemen and women. It was declared an official day by former U.K.Prime Minister, Theresa May, in September 2017.

The inauguration of the day took place at Heaton Park in Manchester, England. As it is usually held at a different venue every year. The day is also called 999 Day and people use this opportunity to thank emergency personnel for their service.

And then for the first time the Emergency Services Day was celebrated in 2018 and since then its continuing today.

Emergency Services Day Significance:

Emergency Services Day is a day which is dedicated to all of the workers currently involved with emergency services in the country. As said before that earlier their contributions and services were often ger neglected by the public so this day was established for the public as a reminder to pay respect to the emergency services workers as well.

Along with this the holiday also helps to promote the usage of the emergency services in a responsible manner among the general public. It helps to educate the public about basic lifesaving skills. It also promotes many exciting career and volunteering opportunities that may be available for people to apply in emergency services.

Emergency personnel includes anyone else who works to keep the public safe such as fire crews, cops, doctors, paramedics, pilots, and even service animals. And all of these people played a very major role in maintaining safety and security in our environment and if any of these stops working then the results would be devastating.

Hence this day works as a proper realization about this fact that how important role that emergency services workers plays to help all of us at any time available. So the respect must be paid for them for their valuable contribution and also we must ensure that they should be paid properly for their job and also should never be mistreated by us.
