The month of September ever year is designated as the Blood Cancer Awareness Month to support patients affected by blood cancer, spread awareness regarding it and to raise funds to progress research on blood cancer. 

Today cancer is one of the most leading cause of deaths worldwide. Among cancer also there wre lamy types of cancers like lung cancer, blood cancer and other types as well. Among these types blood cancer is also one of the most dangerous type of cancer found in a cancer. 

Although the people are already much aware about the seriousness of cancer but still awareness regarding treatment of the patients is required and that's what this month aims to teach.

Blood Cancer Awareness Month History: 

Blood Cancer Awareness Month is crucial for increasing fundraising efforts and awareness on blood cancer. And because of this long campaign only we have seen that since the mid-1970s, survival rates have increased by 25% as a result of this. So yeah it is very important campaign. 

However it is a very old campaign which is going from the 1970s itself but the Blood Cancer Awareness Month was established in 2010 only by the US Congress. And this was done in order to focus the most on this issue of blood cancer in a specific month so that work done regarding it could be more effective and significant. 

Blood cancer has always remained a stubborn challenge for humanity, even after first-generation chemotherapy drugs were introduced in the mid-1950s. Prevention and early detection have always posed a gap in battling the disease; the first step to close this gap was when x-rays and radiation therapies were discovered in the early 20th century.  

However because of the advancement of medical science throughout the times we are now in a much better position to deal with this disease than ever before and that's by we are seeing a jump in the survival rates since the recent times. And there is also hope that the cure for the cancer can be developed in the future. 

Blood Cancer Awareness Month Significance: 

Today we have identified that the blood cancer is of three main types and these are leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. Nearly 1.3 million people in the United States are affected or in treatment for blood cancer today and this a very large number. 

Although because of the medical advancements we have increased the survival rates among the patients because of better treatment and facilities but still we haven't got the proper cure and hence there is still a long way to go. 

Among all the blood cancers Lymphoma is the most prevalent with almost half of all the blood cancer infections in the United States in 2021. And approximately in every three minutes a person gets infected with any type of blood cancer and this only in the US as in world it is even more than that.

Along with raising funds and increasing awareness regarding blood cancer this Blood Cancer Awareness Month also tells people to behave in a right attitude with cancer patients and proper care should be taken of them without any discrimination.
