 This game is almost same like golf but not entirely as it uses the same general rules and ways to play it but additionally it requires a disc to play it. It is the sport which is officially recognized by the world and it is one of the fastest growing sports as well.

National Disc Golf Day History: 

There is no exact story behind the origins of this sport or even who played it for the first time but various accounts can be found worldwide where people used to play golfs using a flying disc or similar objects but they were completely seperated from each other. 

It is alleged that once a group of children in the 19th century threw tin lids at the circular targets drawn in the sand on the playground at Bladworth Elementary School in Saskatchewan, Canada. And this believed to be the precursor of the Disc Golf that we have today. 

Later the similar sports grew in popularity in both Canada and the United States. In 1959 a famous golf player called Kevin Donelly played a street frisbee golf and this was the first major documented event regarding playing golfs with frisbees. And he later also helped in organizing more such events. 

Then the playing of golf with freebies became widely popular all over in the country that it led to the formation of the first American Flying Disc Open which was launched on August 2nd, 1974. 

Then the first official Disc Golf Course was installed by the American toy inventor Ed Headrick in 1975. Then in 1976 the Disc Holf Association was born and they coined the term Disc Golf as official for the sports.

As said earlier today Disc Golf is one of the fastest growing sports in the world especially in the United States. As it offers a more fun and convenient way to those people who often considers golf as a boring sport so by playing this sport which itself is a type of golf there are more chances for everyone to like this sport more than ordinary golf. 

Today Disc Golf is so huge that it has about 11,300 courses available globally. However among that about 75% of all the disc golf courses which are offered in the world today are in the United States. As the US alone has about 8,000 disc golf courses. 

By this you can get an idea that how popular this sport has become in so little time in the country and thus thos made the US administration also to recognize the importance of this sport and that's why in 2016 they dedicated a whole day to this sport to spread more awareness to encourage more people towards the sport but also to celebrate this amazing sport.
