International Youth Day History:

The International Youth Day was formed by the United Nations when they passed a resolution towards creating it in 1999 at the United Nations General Assembly after taking up a recommendation of the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth that 12th August be declared as the International Youth Day.

As it was demanded from a long time to have a day regarding it because to bring the awareness to the general public that still a very large amount of youth in the world is struggling with many issues related to health, education and employment and thus all these issues needs to be addressed.

This day also could be inspired from National Youth Day of South Africa which was then known as Sowerto Day as youth played a major role in bringing Apartheid down. So throughout our history we see that youth are a very powerful weapon and it must be used correctly for the betterment of our world otherwise if used wrongly it could also being destruction and we have see such things many times in the past.

Especially in the developing or poor countries it had been reported many times when youth are neglected it us very much likely for them to become militants, rebels or terrorists as they are filled with much more energy than old people or middle aged adults.

International Youth Day Significance:

Youth are very important for shaping our world and hence they must be protected from all the suffering and social evils and this the primary motive of this day but it also has specific themes for every year that we will talk about later which gets the specialized focus along with this basic point of the day.

And this is a very serious problem as issues regarding youth are mostly occurring in the developing or poor countries and there they makes a huge part of their population so youth of these countries will play a key role in which direction their certain countries or regions will go. Hence the guidance to these youths is very necessary for world peace too and it's just not about poor countries but even in developed countries if the youth are misguided it can lead to devastating results.

We should never forget that still there are millions of children in the world which are starving and mostly they are teenagers too between the ages of 13 to 19. But still many people aren't aware of this fact or even if they are most tends go ignore it as a news headline but this is a very serious issue which our world is facing.

And to solve such issues the UN has set up it's Sustainable Development Goals which it plans to achieve by 2030. But is it possible? Offcourse it's very difficult but possible with the support of the people without it impossible. Yeah it is important too that the governments around the world has to cooperate first but still with only authorities doing it is not possible unless people also decides to make it as a mission.

And that's what the UN wants the people to do that's why days like this are observed in order to raise awareness and also encouraging the people to participate in supporting this noble cause.

International Youth Day Theme:

The theme for this year's International Youth Day in 2022 is "Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating a World for All Ages".

This theme tries to amplify the message that action is needed across all generations to achieve the SDG and no one should be left behind. If we say in brief it tells us the message that the support of all the people from all the different age group is required so that one day we can achieve the goals set by us and which is create a world without any misery and sufferings.

The theme emphasizes on the need to leverage the full potentials of all the generations. And for that showing solidarity to each other is a key. It wants the people to be good with each other especially with those who are not of your age and there is a generation gap between them in that case instead of fighting or ignoring each other we must collaborate to fight together against such social evils.
