But, what are zoonotic diseases ?
If you are wondering that what are zoonotic diseases then it is a type of disease which is transmitted from animals to humans and it is caused by germs like viruses, bacteria, parasites and fungi.
On this day on 6th July 1885, a French biologist named Louise Pasteur who is also very known for his theory of pasteurization successfully administered the first-ever vaccination given for a zoonotic disease to a man named Joseph Meister who was bitten by a dog with rabies.
So yeah as this vaccination was successful it marked a new scientific achievement especially in the field of medical science. As zoonotic diseases if not treated properly could even leads to death of the patients. So it was a very important achievement in human history and hence this day is celebrated annually to commemorate this achievement.
The 'World Zoonoses Day' is very significant because not just only it celebrates the important achievement of mankind towards the zoonotic diseases treatment but it also awares the masses about the importance of it.
As we are also kind of going through the pandemic phase still and we all know that how hard it becomes to deal with a situation like this, so in order to avoid any situation like this in future it is important for people to be aware about the zoonotic diseases.
Also because zoonotic diseases also transmits very fastly and if not treated can infect a large amount of people and it can be very dangerous for human lives.
We still see many people even today who lacks awareness regarding zoonotic diseases as we also seen that many people were even hesitant to take vaccination for Covid-19. So it is important to aware people about the importance of vaccination and correct treatment regards to zoonotic diseases.
So if you are bitten by any animal or you see someone is then it is important to take treatment immediately. As today also many people around the world are suffering from zoonotic diseases like Ebola virus, plague, rabies, etc.
Well the theme for this year's "World Zoonoses Day" is yet to be announced, so we will update you when it will be known, for that stay connected with us.
