The Detailed Project Report(DPR) for the Noida Pod Taxi has been finally approved by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority(YEIDA) on Tuesday and now we can actually see the proposed project to go on grounds soon.

Details of the project:
Under the DPR, the Noida Pod Taxi project has been planned to connect Greater Noida to the upcoming Jewar International Airport of Noida.
And the total cost of about Rs. 810 Crores has been sanctioned by the body for the project. However earlier it was estimated that the project would cost about Rs. 862 Crores. So the body has managed to keep it's cost down.
And now under the new official plan, the pod taxi service in it's first phase will be 14.6 km long elevated corridor pod taxi service and it is likely to have 12 stations between the upcoming Noida airport and the upcoming Film City in sector 21.
However still we do not have the final DOR which is expected to come within a week but most of the official plan has been revealed by the body.
Earlier it was initially planned that pod taxi route will have 17 stations but under this new DPR the number of stations has been brought down to 12 stations. And some of the important stations which are planned between the routes are Toy Park Sector 33, Apparel Park Sector 29, MSME Park Sector 29, etc.
Further developments:
Since the DPR has been finally approved so we can finally expect that this long-awaited proposal to hit the ground reality. As this will be the first such Pod Taxi service in India.
As the DPR of the is approved in a meeting with the officials of the Yamuna Expressways Industrial Development Authority(YEIDA) on Tuesday which also comprises the members of the Indian Port Rail and Ropeway Corporation.
Overall the body plans to operationalize the first phase of Pod Taxi Service by January 2024 and thus the body expects that by then Noida International Airport's first phase also will be operational so thus this project will provide a connectivity boost.
Tenders for the construction of this project is likely to be floated by May this year. And the company which will implement this project will have to recover it's investments within the period of 13-15 years of operations while the concession period will be for 35 years.
The YEIDA CEO also informed that bigger cars are being proposed instead of the 8 seaters initially proposed in the draft DPR so that more passengers are accommodated at a time.
